(UConn Campus Master Plan, October 2014)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A new comprehensive <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/10\/master-plan-presents-20-year-vision-for-storrs-campus\/\">Campus Master Plan<\/a> for the Storrs campus has been in development throughout the year that includes implementation of capital projects under Next Gen, as well as a longer-term vision for the next 20 years. The plan is closely integrated with the University\u2019s academic goals, as outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/04\/uconn-adopts-bold-academic-vision\/\">Academic Vision<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Campus Master Plan, which will be submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval in the spring, also includes new athletic facilities such as a soccer complex that will complement the recently opened <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/10\/uconn-basketball-training-center-named-for-longtime-supporters\/\">new basketball facility<\/a>, construction of the planned <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/08\/uconn-trustees-approve-funding-for-first-tech-park-building-road-extension\/\">Tech Park<\/a>, and a new look at the entranceways to campus. (Peter Morenus\/UConn Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>UConn\u2019s presence in the downtown development continues to grow, and now includes the Co-op Bookstore, <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/02\/puppetry-museum-opens-at-storrs-center\/\">Ballard Institute &amp; Museum of Puppetry<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/06\/a-celebration-of-uconn-health-in-storrs-center\/\">UConn Health<\/a>. Medical services already available include family medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, and other specialties, as well as urgent care; and more will soon be added.<\/p>\n<p>At UConn Health in Farmington, major developments include a new <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/11\/countdown-begins-to-opening-of-outpatient-pavilion\/\">Outpatient Pavilion<\/a>, slated to open early in 2015, a hospital tower that is currently under construction, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/10\/jax-genomic-medicine-opens-at-uconn-health\/\">JAX Institute for Genomic Medicine<\/a>, which opened in October. <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/blog\/2014\/10\/uconn-doubling-capacity-to-cultivate-business-startups\/\">New incubator space<\/a> is also being added that will double the University\u2019s current capacity.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_97149\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-97149\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/JAXCenterbrook11-e1412625533779.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-97149 img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/JAXCenterbrook11-e1412625533779.jpg\" alt=\"The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine opened in October.
