The women’s basketball team extended its unbeaten streak to 77 games with Sunday’s 70-50 win over Baylor in San Antonio, Texas, placing the Huskies in position to win their second consecutive NCAA title and a seventh national championship today at 8:30 p.m. (ET) against Stanford.

Led by All-Americans Maya Moore (34 points, 12 rebounds) and Tina Charles (21 points, 13 rebounds), the Huskies held Baylor’s 6-8 freshman center Brittney Griner to 13 points and 6 rebounds.

After trailing the Huskies at halftime 39-26, Baylor started the second half with a 12-2 run that brought them to within three points. The Huskies responded with a 21-6 run over the next nine minutes to secure the win, pushing the team’s 2009-10 record to 38-0.

Stanford was the last team to beat the Huskies, but when UConn and Stanford played earlier this season at the XL Center on Dec. 23, the Huskies won by a score of 80-68.
