Husky Sport Hosts Hartford Students for a Day on Campus

Josh Lupinek, a first year master's student in sports management, teaches Hartford students how to play soccer during the Husky Sport "Read and Raise Olympic Event." About 200 Hartford students and staff spent the day on campus April 30 with 200 UConn students and staff, celebrating the schools' participation in the Read and Raise initiative from December through April. Students from three Hartford schools play soccer during the Husky Sport event. The students read more than 50,000 books and completed 50,000 worksheets during the Read and Raise initiative.

Hartford students play "Sharks and Minnows" with UConn students. Read and Raise is part of an effort to raise more than $30,000 to donate to Emeka Okafor's "One Million African Lives" initiative to help fight the spread of HIV/AIDS and malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa.
