University of Connecticut Police have arrested a 19-year-old East Hartford woman, Kendriana Manning, in connection with bomb threats made to the UConn Greater Hartford regional campus on two different days last week. The threats led to the evacuation of campus buildings and the cancellation of classes on each day.

On Oct. 19, two e-mails were received at the Greater Hartford campus stating that a bomb would explode at the campus. UConn Police, with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit, evacuated and searched specific areas of the campus. They did not find any explosive devices. All classes were cancelled for the remainder of day, affecting nearly 3,000 students, faculty, and staff.

On Oct. 21, another e-mail bomb threat was received at the Greater Hartford campus, this one appearing to be more threatening. Again, the campus was evacuated and all classes were cancelled for the remainder of the day.

No bomb was found on either day.

UConn Police conducted an investigation into the origin of the threats and after an examination of Internet records and the execution of several search warrants, investigators arrested Manning on Oct. 26.

She has been charged with two counts of falsely reporting an incident, two counts of first degree threatening – both of which are felonies – as well as two counts of second degree breach of peace, two counts of second degree harassment, and an act of terrorism.

Manning was held on a $50,000 surety bond.
