Benton Exhibit Features Soviet-Era Posters and Cartoons

A 1942 lithograph featuring Adolf Hitler is part of an exhibition of Soviet-era political posters and cartoons at the Benton Museum through March 20.

<p>Views and Re-Views: Soviet Political Posters and Cartoons, an exhibition of Soviet-era political posters and cartoons dating from 1919 through the 1980s, is on display at The William Benton Museum of Art from January 25 – March 20, 2011. More than an opportunity to condemn extremism of a bygone era, Views and Re-Views invites viewers to contemplate the works with a mind to past and current political climates in which rigid ideologies are formulated and disseminated.</p>
A 1942 lithograph featuring Adolf Hitler is part of an exhibition of Soviet-era political posters and cartoons at the Benton Museum through March 20. This work is by Kukryniksy, three cartoonists in the USSR who published under joint signature, who became internationally famous for their attacks on political figures including Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco.
