The ballet company was formed in Moscow in the late 1980s when Russia's great dancers and choreographers were exercising a new creative freedom. Many of the more than 50 dancers currently with the ballet have been there since the beginning. Ballet Master Alexander Daev said about the current four-month tour, "We have many performances and a busy schedule, but this is what we enjoy doing. The American audience is very cultured, and is passionate in their warm response to our performances." Photo by Jessica Tommaselli</p>
