On Sept. 11, 2001, UConn students were among millions around the world who watched in horror as events unfolded. As the impact began to sink in, more than 3,000 students, faculty, and staff came together for a candlelight vigil on the Student Union Mall to remember the victims of the attacks. An article in the UConn Advance newspaper of Sept. 17, 2001, A World Shattered, A Time to Be Together, describes the feelings of the community at the time.
