Chamber music has been variously described as ‘music among friends’ or, as Johann Wolfgan von Goethe put it, “four rational people conversing.”  The word ‘chamber’ refers to the fact that a small group of musicians gathered in small rooms, often private salons, to play music for their own pleasure. UConn’s Department of Music has perfected the art of chamber music, and this year’s winter concert included the music of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and Rachmaninov, among others.
