The University of Connecticut Board of Trustees will meet on Monday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. to take up the issue of tuition and fees. The meeting will take place in the Rome Commons Ballroom on the Storrs campus.
The University will propose a plan to increase tuition and fees by between 6 percent and 6.75 percent each year for the next four years. Room and board rates would increase by 3 percent, making the overall cost of attending UConn rise by between 4.2 percent and 4.6 percent each year.
If approved, the funds this would generate will be devoted to hiring 290 professors to expand course offerings and help ensure that students can take the courses they need to graduate on time.
The Board of Trustees is ultimately responsible setting tuition, fee, room and board rates.
