Asian Night at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts gave more than 270 performers the chance to celebrate their heritage through song, dance, comedy, and martial arts. Performing in front of an appreciative audience on Feb. 25, this annual talent showcase was organized by the Pan-Asian Council which is comprised of executive board members from the Asian-American Cultural Center (AsACC).

UConn Husky Bhangra in colorful costumes, members of the Filipino-American student association performing traditional Filipino dance, and the Korean-Student Association with modern K-Pop dancing, and a Tae Kwon Do demonstration by the T-Huskies were among the performers that had the audience buzzing with excitement.

Sponsored by the AsACC, the spring talent show has become a popular tradition, as it provides an opportunity to share rich cultural traditions and diverse talents of Asian and Asian-American students on campus.

The AsACC, which first opened its doors in April 1993, is located on the fourth floor of the Student Union. Its mission is to provide resources to enhance the University’s diversity commitment through its recruitment and retention efforts, teaching, service, and outreach to the Asian American community on campus and beyond.
