Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society for first-year students, kicked-off a celebration of Halloween with Pumpkinfest 2012 held on Fairfield Way on Oct. 26.
In addition to trying their hands at pumpkin decorating, those who stopped by had a chance to partake in delicious fall snacks and to participate in a trivia contest. All proceeds raised were donated to the Omen (Children’s Cancer) Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
ALD was founded in 1924 to recognize academic excellence among freshmen women. In the mid-’70s the organization became coeducational. UConn’s chapter was formed in 1964.
