Sun Safety

It’s fun to be in the sun but a UConn Health dermatologist warns with skin cancer rates rising, you need to take precautions.

Every hour in the U.S. someone dies of melanoma yet 76 percent of Americans have not had a skin cancer check by a dermatologist. Skin screening is crucial since melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) is curable when caught in the beginning, treatable stages.

During an appearance on NBC Connecticut, UConn Health dermatologist Dr. Philip Kerr describes the early warning signs and what you can do to protect yourself from the sun’s damaging rays.
