Anthony G. Benoit
Anthony G. Benoit

Anthony G. Benoit (M.S. Environmental Engineering, ’05) was appointed the 12th president at Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT), a 106-year-old technical college located in the South End of Boston. Benoit joined BFIT in 2011 as Dean of Academic Affairs and was named interim president in 2013, becoming president in January. Prior to joining BFIT, he was director of engineering technology at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, CT.  Benoit holds bachelor’s degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale, and a master’s in psychology from Connecticut College.

Tos D. Crawford

Tos D. Crawford (B.S. Computer Science & Engineering, ’91) joined Douglas Elliman Real Estate in Westchester County, NY. Crawford became a licensed real estate agent following a successful career as an IT manager and architect for companies such as Pepsi, IBM and Sirius/XM.  He was previously with BHG Rand in Briarcliff Manor, NY.

Michael “Pete” Culmo
Michael “Pete” Culmo

Michael “Pete” Culmo, P.E. (B.S. Civil Engineering, ’83; M.S. Structural Engineering, ’86) received the 2014 Special Achievement Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction for his work in developing and spreading the use of prefabricated steel bridge elements for Accelerated Bridge Construction. A 2010 inductee to the UConn School of Engineering Academy of Distinguished Engineers, Culmo is vice president of transportation and structures with CME Associates, Inc. in Woodstock, CT.

Anthony “Tony” DeCarmine, Jr. (B.S. Mechanical Engineering/Materials Engineering, ’92) was named the first chief technology officer at Oxford Performance Materials Inc. (OPM). In this position, DeCarmine is responsible for advancing the company’s process technologies, including OsteoFab, the company’s primary area of innovation for the medical industry, and OXFAB, a proprietary technology for aerospace and industrial customers. He joined OPM in 2003 and has held a number of senior positions, including director of application development and technical director.

Ryan K. O'Keefe
Ryan K. O’Keefe

Ryan K. O’Keefe (B.S. Electrical Engineering, ’90) was appointed senior vice president of business development at Ideal Power Inc. He joined Ideal Power from energy-storage startup Younicos, where he served as senior vice president and chief revenue officer.  Prior to his employment with Younicos, O’Keefe spent 8 years with NextEra Energy, a Fortune 200 company, where he was vice president of solar development.  He holds an MBA from Columbia University.

Jim R. Nichols
Jim R. Nichols

Jim R. Nichols (M.S. Environmental Engineering, ‘94) was appointed county manager of Douglas County, Nevada. He served as Las Vegas deputy city manager for two years. Before that,  he was assistant city manager in Midland, Texas.  Nichols has more than 15 years of experience in local government management, with expertise in public works, engineering, public safety, community services, parks and recreation and capital improvement programs.
