Twice a year, UConn Health’s infectious diseases specialist Dr. Kevin Dieckhaus takes a group of students from the School of Medicine to spend a month in Uganda, East Africa. There they provide health care to local residents, but also learn first-hand about tropical diseases; about providing medical services with few resources; and about human resilience. Medical student Ryan Duggan was part of that group earlier this year.
