The Department of Allied Health Sciences (AHS) is pleased to announce a new PhD degree program in Health Promotion Sciences.
“We are grateful that the University of Connecticut Board of Trustees recently approved a new PhD degree in the Department of Allied Health Sciences,” says Cameron Faustman, associate dean and director. “This will benefit health-oriented students wishing to pursue the terminal research degree.”
“The final Board of Trustees approval marked a critical growth step for the department as we strengthen and grow our graduate program,” says Nancy Bull, interim department head. “Lead by Dr. Valerie Duffy and Dr. Michael Copenhaver, faculty in the department worked for over a year to articulate the requirements and expectations of a new PhD program. We are now marketing our program to institutions around the world.”
The new research-oriented degree program is focused on the integration of four major areas: behavioral and environmental interventions; diet and physical activity across the lifespan; genetics and diagnostics; and statistical modeling to promote health and prevent disease.
