February is the perfect time to visit the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Greenhouses and soak up the vivid colors of tropical flowers and leafy plants. The collection includes about 3,000 species from around the world. This photo gallery by Amy Jorgensen ’17 (SFA) offers a sneak peek of some of the tropical plants in bloom in early February.

Emeritus biology professor Terry Webster is offering hour-long guided tours of the greenhouses on Feb. 12, Feb. 26, and March 4, beginning at 12:15 p.m. Or stop by anytime Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The greenhouses are behind the Torrey Life Sciences Building on North Eagleville Road in Storrs. In case you can’t go in person, check the greenhouse website anytime year-round to see what’s currently in flower.
