75thanniversary

Dear Alumni and Friends:

In September, we formally announced the yearlong celebration recognizing University of Connecticut’s School of Nursing 75th Anniversary of excellence in education, practice, policy and research. From a small group of 13 students in 1942 to our current standing in the top 10% of Schools of  Nursing nationally we have much to celebrate. The School will commemorate 2017 by hosting a series of events and professional colloquiums throughout the state beginning January 17th 2017 from 1-3pm at the Avery Point Campus lead by Assistant Professor Lisa-Marie Griffiths on the topic of Social Justice.

We are calling for nominations for those that have made a difference in nursing. Do you know an outstanding alum, faculty or supporter of nursing?
We want to celebrate 75 Difference Makers. We hope you will answer this call and help us to identify these individuals past and present. (Please find the nomination form on the last page of this article.)

As we celebrate our past we also invite you to join us in celebrating our future. In recognition of the 75th Anniversary an anonymous donor has committed to match $75,000 in scholarship support raised during this celebratory year. We welcome your contributions.

On September 23rd 2017 the School of Nursing will host a 75th Anniversary Gala at the Hartford Marriott. At this event we will recognize our 75 Difference Makers, our Almuni Awardees and what hopefully will be a successful scholarship fundraising campaign. As alums and co-chairs we hope you will join us in participating in upcoming activities and connect with fellow alums and faculty in your area over the next year.

We look forward to seeing you and hearing from you. Go Huskies!!
