Stay up to date with UConn Engineering updates from around the country.

Roland Boucher (B.S. Electrical Engineering, ’54) authored a paper entitled, “The Pendulum and Standards of Measure in the Ancient World,” published in the January 17 issue of Cal Lab Magazine, a quarterly publication that covers measurement science and instrument calibration for managers, engineers, and technicians.  In the article, Boucher describes how coherent measurement systems were in place 5000 years before the metric system and how Queen Elizabeth decided to mix and match to create the current “English” measurement system.

Allison Burch, P.E. (B.S. Civil Engineering, ’02) has been appointed to serve a three-year term as a director on the board at the American Eagle Financial Credit Union, the largest community credit union in Connecticut.  Joining the credit union as a volunteer in 2009, Burch has served as an associate director since 2012, and is currently chair of the Supervisory Committee.  She is a Transportation Engineer in the Asset Management Group at the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

David Robitaille (B.S. Chemical Engineering, ’12) has been named Global Marketing Manager, Oligomers & Coatings,  at Dymax Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced light-curable adhesives, coatings, oligomers, light-curing equipment, and fluid dispense systems that work together to optimize assembly processes.  After graduating UConn, Robitaille joined DuPont where he served in various positions until joining Dymax in 2015.

In Memorium

John Corvari (B.S. Electrical Engineering, ’56), 88, died on March 16, 2017 in McLean, Virginia.  After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Covari earned his degree at UConn and a master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. His professional career included engineering, management, and consulting roles primarily in postal automation for companies in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
