Healthcare Management Professor Resul Cesur has been appointed as Faculty Research Fellow in the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) program on Health Economics.

NBER is an American private, nonprofit research organization, based in Cambridge, Mass., committed to undertaking and disseminating unbiased economic research among public policymakers, business professionals, and the academic community.

“I am extremely happy and feel fortunate to join the NBER family, not only because it will expose me to the finest scholars in various fields including economics, healthcare and business, but also it will bring greater visibility to our institution, UConn,” said Cesur, a faculty member in the finance department.

Broadly focusing on social determinants of health, Cesur’s research has spanned topics as diverse as studying the impacts of combat exposure on the well-being of veterans and the associated burden on the U.S. healthcare system, public health effects of the provision of universal primary care in an emerging economy, as well as the effects of shifting from coal to natural gas for residential and commercial space heating on mortality. Cesur joined the UConn faculty in 2011.
