Hervol was UConn’s leading scorer this season, averaging 72.1 strokes per round for 31 rounds. He earned medalist honors in the opening tournament of the 2016-17 season, shooting 11-under par at the Doc Gimmler Invitational in Farmingdale, N.Y. That was one of Hervol’s seven Top 10 and eight Top 20 finishes this year. He shot par of better in a team-leading 16 rounds, twice firing a season-low 65. Hervol led the Huskies to three tournament victories and eight Top 5 finishes and was named to the All-American Conference Team.

Khan’s award is given annually to the player who has shown the most improvement throughout the season. He averaged 73.2 strokes per round, third on the team, and had three Top 10 and four Top 20 finishes, including two in the Top 5. He shot par or better in 12 rounds with a season-low round of 64. Just after the spring semester ended, Khan won the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
