With the Snip of a Ribbon, the Student Recreation Center Opens

The new center on Hillside Road officially opened Aug. 26 at 6 a.m., the morning after a ribbon cutting ceremony led by President Tom Katsouleas.

The new center, which had been in the conceptual phase for years, officially opened for business on Aug. 26 at 6 a.m., following an evening ribbon cutting ceremony. Located on Hillside Road at the intersection with Jim Calhoun Way, it joins the School of Business, Gampel Pavilion, and the UConn Bookstore. The facility, which is 191,000 square feet of area and four stories tall, is open to all members of the university community.
