UConn Soccer to Play in Hartford This Season

This season, the University of Connecticut men’s and women’s soccer teams will be facing opponents downtown at Dillon Stadium, the brand new multi-purpose facility is home to the Hartford Athletic of the United Soccer League.

UConn soccer is temporarily playing at Dillon Stadium to enable the construction of the state-of-the art Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at the Rizza Family Soccer Complex in Storrs. The complex, which will be built on the same site as UConn soccer’s on-campus home since 1969, is scheduled for completion in time for the start of the 2020 season.

The first game at Dillon Stadium is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8, when the women’s soccer team welcomes Boston University to Hartford at 1 p.m.  The men’s soccer team opens up in the capital city on Tuesday, Sept. 17, against Manhattan College at 7 p.m.

The women’s home games that precede the contest against BU — Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. against Fairfield University; Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. against Colgate University — will be played at the University of Hartford.  The men’s home games that are scheduled prior to the contest against Manhattan College — Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. against BU; Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. against Rider University; Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. against Fairleigh Dickinson University — will also be played at the University of Hartford.

Women’s soccer ticket prices are $5 and men’s soccer ticket prices, $6, for general admission. Tickets for both are $1 each for groups of 10 or more.

As a reminder, beginning this fall, students no longer need to purchase a ticket to attend any UConn regular season home games, including men’s and women’s soccer. Students will need to simply swipe their Student ID at the main entrances of both University of Hartford and Dillon Stadium for admission on a first-come, first-served basis.

All undergraduate, graduate and transfer students at any of UConn’s regional campuses, as well as the School of Law, School of Medicine, and School of Dental Medicine, enrolled for the fall 2019 semester can swipe their UConn Student ID for admission.
