Achievements
Ellie Jean, daughter of Rebecca Bacher, the Director of the Academic Service Center in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, recently completed an outstanding collegiate soccer career at Penn State. The team earned a spot in the NCAA tournament each year she played, including a trip to the Sweet 16 this year. Jean is an Academic All-Big Ten selection and was a third team All-Big Ten pick as a senior.
Dr. Samuel Laurencin, chief resident in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the UConn School of Medicine, completed his residency training last summer and will move on to a one-year fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at Harvard-Massachusetts General Hospital. He is the nephew of Dr. Cato T. Laurencin, the Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at UConn Health.

Jean Hunt, 88, of Stafford Springs, Conn., a retired housekeeper at UConn Student Health Services, on Dec. 8.
Dr. Elton Paul Katz, 96, of West Hartford, Conn., a former professor at UConn Health in the Department of Biostructure and Function, on Nov. 19.
Bernice Lesinki, 89, of West Hartford, Conn., who formerly worked at UConn Health, on Dec. 8.
Thomas Maclure, 74, of Windham, Conn., who formerly was employed in facilities management, on Nov. 21.
Catherine Bigley McGovern, 80, of Glastonbury, Conn., an adjunct professor at UConn Law, on Nov. 17.
Arthur McEvily, Jr., 94, of Mansfield Center, Conn., who was the head of the metallurgy department at UConn from 1967-78 and was a professor emeritus, on Nov. 17.
