The UConn School of Pharmacy 2020 Pharm.D. class has selected Professor Stephanie Gernant as the 2020 School of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year. “Dr. Gernant is a dedicated teacher and mentor, and this selection is a testament to a role she takes very seriously,” says Philip Hritcko, Interim Dean. “As a practicing member of the PRISM Collaborative she works to ensure safe and effective medication use involving interdisciplinary educational programs, community-based research collaborations, health care transformation policy opportunities, and team-based care delivery. The fact that our students have the opportunity to learn from a faculty member who is so active in pharmacy practice and healthcare outside the School makes her teaching feel especially timely and relevant.”
“Dr. Gernant cares deeply and personally about students and their welfare,” says C. Michael White, Head of Pharmacy Practice. ” She pushes them hard to be their best but is always willing to support them in their pursuit of excellence. I am proud to have her on our team of strong and committed instructors here in the School of Pharmacy.”
“Thank you to the class of 2020. I am truly honored,” says Stephanie. This award is the result of much teamwork. Every single one of our School’s faculty has given me support so the accomplishments I see are a reflection of that support and our collective teamwork. It’s a privilege to be a part of the UConn School of Pharmacy.”
Fifteen members of the School’s faculty received student votes, an indication of the commitment of our faculty team to student learning.
As Teacher of the Year, Dr. Gernant will be recognized at the Annual School of Pharmacy Senior Banquet on Friday, May 8th.
