Staff members of the UConn Division of Student Affairs spent Saturday, May 2, passing out goodie bags to students that remain in university residence halls as they prepare for their spring semester final examinations.

UConn President Thomas Katsouleas joined the effort, in addition to Provost Carl Lejuez, who just completed his first week on campus.

Among those taking part were Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Eleanor Daugherty, Director of Student Activities Joe Briody, along with representatives from Student Health and Wellness, UConn Recreation, and Community Standards.

They were escorted around campus on a beautiful spring day by members of the UConn police and fire departments.

The goodie bags featured cookies from UConn Dining Services, study supplies, and stress relievers. It was all packaged in a mini-beach pail from Student Affairs.

Nearly 700 goodie bags were distributed to students in 77 different residence halls, many of them international students, who were not able to return to their homes when the University moved to online delivery of classes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The students not only appreciated the contents of the goodie bags, but were also happy to see a smiling face to check in on how they were doing during these challenging times.

Classes for the spring semester ended on Friday, May 1 and exams run through Saturday, May 9.
