Every year in the U.S., fire departments respond to roughly 1,600 home cooking fires on Thanksgiving Day. One of the main culprits of these fires – which cause injuries, death, and millions of dollars in damage – are attempts at deep-frying a turkey for the holiday meal. In this video, produced in cooperation with UCTV, the UConn Fire Department offers how-to instructions on the safest way to fry a turkey, and offer their wishes for a happy (and fire-free) Thanksgiving to all of UConn Nation.
