Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Orlikoff as the next director of the UConn Stamford Campus. She will begin this new role on July 1, 2022.

Dr. Orlikoff was selected from a talented pool of applicants. A faculty member and administrator at West Virginia University since 2008, she served as campus president of WVU-Potomac State College for the past six years. Dr. Orlikoff ‘s prior roles at WVU include serving as a faculty member in the department of World Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, director of the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, and chair of the University Faculty Senate and the Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Orlikoff’s experience in leading a public university campus makes her an ideal fit for leading the Stamford Campus, which has grown in enrollment, faculty and staff, and academic programming over the last several years.

As president of Potomac State College, Dr. Orlikoff oversaw operations spanning budget, academics, facilities, student life, housing and dining, athletics, campus police, marketing and communications, development, recruitment and enrollment. She also maintained strong relationships with community partners and state officials and agencies to enhance the visibility and opportunities for the college. Additionally, she has led the college with an emphasis on transparency, communication, and diversity and inclusion. She has the necessary experience and skills to sustain and enhance the Stamford Campus as a key institution in Fairfield County, for the state, and for its diverse population of students, faculty and staff.

Dr. Orlikoff earned her B.A. in French and Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and M.A. and Ph.D. in French Literature from Rutgers University. She also taught French at Rutgers, the University of Memphis, and at the middle- and high school-levels in New Jersey. Additionally, she has a decade of experience in the corporate sphere, holding executive roles with Assist America, Inc., an international emergency medical travel assistance company.

I want to express my gratitude to the search committee, chaired by Mark Overmyer-Velázquez, as well as the Stamford community, for your active participation in this process. Your input was critical in informing the evaluation of candidates. I also want to thank David Souder for his service in leading the Stamford Campus as interim director for the past year.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Orlikoff to this role and to the UConn community.

Sincerely,

Carl Lejuez
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
