UConn Foundation Achieves Third Consecutive Record-Breaking Year for Fundraising

Donors Give $115 Million to Support UConn Students, Researchers, Faculty, and Patients

The UConn Foundation achieved the highest fundraising total in its history for the third consecutive year, with generous donors contributing $115 million in new gifts and commitments in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2022. These funds, which represent a 23% increase over last year’s $93.3 million total, will support UConn’s academic, research, and public service missions across all campuses and UConn Health.

Included in this year’s total is the $29.4 million raised for scholarships and fellowships, a $1 million increase over fiscal year 2021. Since fiscal 2014, the UConn Foundation has raised $203.4 million for scholarships and fellowships. These funds provide crucial need- and merit-based support for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across UConn.

“This record-setting year is a testament to the belief our generous donors have in a UConn education,” says Jake Lemon, president, and CEO of the UConn Foundation. “We are deeply grateful for their support. Access to education plays a vital role in helping promising students fulfill their potential, and scholarships and fellowships make that possible.”

Donors also gave $24.3 million to support UConn’s role as a major research university, an incredible 145% increase over the $9.9 million raised in fiscal 2021. These funds will support key research initiatives and lead to breakthroughs in fields such as technology, engineering, and health.

“We are thankful for the unwavering and generous support of our alumni, friends, and corporate partners” says Melinda Brown ’77 (BUS), ’85 MBA, chair of the UConn Foundation Board of Directors. “They believe in UConn and its mission, and their gifts serve to amplify the impact our University delivers to all of the constituents it serves.”

Support for UConn Health reached $10.8 million in fiscal 2022, providing critical funding to advance patient care, research, and academic programs. Donations for the Division of Athletics totaled $23.5 million. In all, 21,000 donors contributed to this year’s fundraising success.
