The UConn School of Pharmacy has named Stefanie Nigro, Pharm.D., BCACP, CDCES, recipient of the 2023 Dean Robert L. McCarthy Faculty Service Award. This is an annual award presented to a full-time faculty member who has provided outstanding service to their department, school, the University, the profession of pharmacy, and the public.
Nigro is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at UConn. She will be presented her award during commencement weekend.
“It’s very humbling to be honored and recognized by my peers,” says Nigro. “We all work so hard each day, so the fact that my colleagues thought my efforts stood out makes me smile with gratitude.”
Nigro is in her second stint as a UConn faculty member since 2019, as she was an assistant clinical professor at the school from 2009-13. She also had a second appointment in the UConn School of Medicine during that time.
She earned her doctorate of pharmacy from Northeastern in 2006 and has also served in faculty positions at MCPHS and Northeastern.
Nigro has gained real-life experience as both a full-time and part-time pharmacist at CVS pharmacies in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. She currently gains clinical experience at Community Health Services in Hartford and ProHealth Physicians, LLC, in Farmington.
