Why did you choose UConn?
I chose UConn because of its nationally recognized teacher preparation program and its beautiful campus. I knew that coming here would best prepare me to become an educator with its many supports and resources offered to students.

What’s your major/field of study, and what drew you to it?
I am a special education major with an English concentration. I have a strong passion for education and what that means for people with disabilities. My mission is to create an inclusive and secure environment for students whenever I am in the classroom and, at the conclusion of my studies, I know I will be able to do this.

Did you have a favorite professor or class?
It is hard to choose a favorite class, I have loved them all! I definitely enjoyed “Classroom and Behavior Management” with Susannah Everett.

What’s one thing that surprised you about UConn?
Something that surprised me about UConn is how much is truly available for students, from study spaces that can be reserved to clubs of anyone’s interest, there truly is something for everyone.

What are your plans after graduation/receiving your degree?
I plan to continue my studies at UConn to receive a master’s in educational psychology and become a special education teacher.

Any advice for incoming students?
UConn will offer you the support to put yourself out there and be successful — use these resources!

What’s one thing everyone should do during their time at UConn?
Definitely go to sports events, they are all super fun! Basketball and football games at UConn are the best!

What will always make you think of UConn?
Good sportsmanship. As a campus, the Husky pride and school spirit is always felt. Similar to the sports teams our school is known for, the community at UConn plays and executes as a team.
