Dear Colleagues,

I write to let you know that the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system (CSCU) will announce today that Lloyd Blanchard, UConn’s Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Planning/Chief Strategy Officer, has been named interim Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer at the system. He will begin there on September 8, 2023.

I want to congratulate Lloyd on his appointment and thank him for his dedicated service to UConn. Lloyd came to UConn in 2016 to lead our Office of Institutional Research. Since that time, he has held several administrative leadership roles. Prior to his current appointment, Lloyd was the University’s interim Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer, was Associate Vice President for Budget, Management, and Institutional Research, and has a faculty appointment as a Professor in Residence in the School of Public Policy.

Those of us who have had the opportunity to work closely with Lloyd know him for his exceptional professionalism, deep knowledge and understanding of the University’s complex operations, effectiveness as a leader, and his sincere collegiality. While we are sorry to lose a colleague of his incredible caliber, we wish him all the best.

The strategic planning process, which Lloyd helped to lead, is one of our most pressing and vital priorities. It will continue uninterrupted, and we will fill this key leadership role in the near future.

Once again, please join me in congratulating Lloyd and wishing him well.

Sincerely,
Radenka Maric
UConn President
