Tadinada Receives National Recognition for Student Mentorship

The award honors a faculty advisor who has distinguished themselves as a dental scientist and serves as a mentor to dental students in research.

Aditya Tadinada BDS., M.Dent.Sci is an associate dean for Graduate Research, Education, and Training at the UConn School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Aditya Tadinada, associate dean for Graduate Research, Education, and Training at the UConn School of Dental Medicine was recently honored for his outstanding contributions as a student research mentor.

Tadinada is the 2024 recipient of the Student Competition for Advancing Dental Research and its Application (SCADA) Burton C. Borgelt/SCADA Faculty Advisory Award. The award honors a faculty advisor who has distinguished themselves as a dental scientist and serves as a mentor to dental students in research.

“The Board was most impressed with your dedication to research and your commitment to mentoring students through your 13-year tenure as a faculty member at UConn,” said Dr. Erin Ealba Bumann , SCADA Alumni Association President in an announcement. “So many students have credited their success to you and the enthusiasm you bring to academic dentistry.”

“Dr. Tadinada has provided leadership and oversight for our student research program for several years and this award is national recognition of these efforts as well as for the countless students he has mentored,” said Dr. Steven Lepowsky, dean of the School of Dental Medicine.

Tadinada accepted this award at the 2024 American Association of Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) meeting in New Orleans this month.

SCADA is a global student competition, aimed at engaging the next generation of dental professionals in the discovery and advancement of dental research, and the improvement of oral health worldwide.
