Achievement

Marie Coppola, a professor of psychological sciences, is spending time in Washington, D.C., as an American Association for the Advancement of Science Science & Technology Policy Fellow working to create national policy with the National Science Foundation.

The Capital Area Health Consortium, the group of Connecticut hospitals that employs medical residents and fellows in UConn-sponsored programs, announced awards for three UConn School of Medicine residents and one faculty member. Drs. Amdanda Frondella, Lisa Tamburini, and Irbert Vega (all residents) won Community Service Awards, and assistant professor Dr. Jaclyn Olsen Jaeger won the T. Stewart Hamilton, MD, Fellowship.

Professor of music composition Kenneth Fuchs was recently recognized as the 2024 Omicron Delta Kappa Pillar of Leadership in Service, Creative and Performing Arts. The Pillar of Leadership in Creative and Performing Arts is bestowed on Omicron Delta Kappa members who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the arts. It acknowledges individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their professional and personal lives, contributing significantly to their communities and beyond.

In Memoriam

Katherine Phan, of Ann Arbor, Mich, a former researcher at UConn Health, on July 4.

Patricia Tanaka, 87, of Storrs, Conn., who taught public speaking and worked in the Department of Admissions on transfer students, on June 21.

Stephen Warren, 76, of Storrs, Conn., who worked in facilities maintenance for many years, on July 2.
