Dr. Scott Allen, Chief Medical Officer of UConn Health, has been named a 2025 Connecticut Hospital Association Healthcare Hero – an honor that reflects his decades-long commitment to patient safety, clinical quality, and compassionate care. This award recognizes the extraordinary contributions of healthcare professionals who go above and beyond to make a difference in their organizations and communities.
Dr. Damion Grasso, of the UConn School of Medicine, has been elected as president of the Society of Clinical Psychology. The Society of Clinical Psychology (Division 12 of the American Psychological Association) is the professional home of clinical and health service psychologists.
Professor Sir Cato T. Laurencin, MD, Ph.D., KCSL, was honored with an award by the West Indian Foundation for his outstanding contributions to the community. The mission of the West Indian Foundation Inc. is to foster and strengthen a sense of unity within the West Indian community through strategic partnerships in the areas of health, education, business, and culture.
Dr. Steven Lepowsky, dean of the School of Dental Medicine, and Dr. Alan Lurie, professor and chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences, both received alumni honors from their dental schools. Lepowsky received the 2025 Columbia College of Dental Medicine Distinguished Alumni Award for Notable Achievement in Academic Dentistry. Lurie was awarded the 2025 Alumnus of the Year from the UCLA School of Dentistry.
President Radenka Maric has been named a Fellow of The Electrochemical Society, a highly prestigious designation awarded annually to a select group of scientists and engineers from around the globe. Maric is a world leader in electrochemistry at surfaces and interfaces, and in nanomaterials development for a wide range of renewable energy applications and sensors. The Electrochemical Society announced that she is among 12 researchers worldwide who have been selected by their fellow scientists and engineers for the 2025 Class of ECS Fellows.
Retirement
Glenn Keegan, a network administrator professional staff member of the Network and Engineering and Design team within the Information Technology Services department, retired on June 1 after 26 years.

Phil Barry, 96, of Mansfield, Conn., who dedicated over 60 years of his life to the University of Connecticut as a student, Division of Athletics administrator, and later as a member of the Board of Trustees, on June 14.
Mary Brown, 104, of Savannah, Ga., a former lecturer in nutrition at UConn Stamford, on June 5.
Hallie Krider, 82, of Las Cruces, N.M., who taught at UConn for more than 30 years, on May 31.
William Lockwood, 83, of Coventry, Conn., a 30-year employee who served as the bursar and assistant bursar, on May 11.
Dennis Seymour, 79, a former admission officer, on Feb. 8.
