Honors

Dr. Kristen Moriarty of UConn Health, who is in the final year of her seven-year maternal-fetal medicine fellowship, recently accepted the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Outstanding Early Career Investigator Travel Award. The honor recognizes quality, originality, and scientific merit of a submitted research abstract.

Yangchao Luo, associate professor of nutritional sciences, and Zhe Zhu, associate professor of natural resources and the environment, of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, were among the world’s most highly cited researchers in 2025.  The 2025 Highly Cited Researchers list, released by Clarivate, uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify individuals from around the world who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their chosen field of research. Also named from the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences were assistant research professor Cory Merow, emerita professor Robin Chazdon, and emeritus professor Robert Colwell.

Donna Battistone, 93, of Manchester, Conn., a retired employee from the admission office and former University Examiner, on Feb. 28.

Judith Hedenberg, 80, of Southington, Conn., a retired administrative assistant at UConn Health in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, on March 4.

Leonard Krimerman, 91, of Ashford, Conn., a retired and long-time professor of philosophy, on Dec. 31.
