Awards

Dr. Rajesh Lalla, professor and associate dean for research in the School of Dental Medicine, and Dr. Prazwala Chirravur, assistant professor, both recently received awards at the American Academy of Oral Medicine’s annual conference in Dallas. Lalla received the Samuel Charles Miller Award for outstanding scientific contributions to the field of oral medicine. Chirravur, a board-certified oral medicine specialist, received the Saudi Society of Oral Medicine Award for Outstanding Contribution and Excellence in the Field of Oral Medicine.

Three Neag School of Education faculty received awards at this year’s American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting in Los Angeles. Assistant professor of educational psychology Kathleen Lynch is the Out-of-School Time Special Interest Group Scholar Award winner, while assistant professor Kylie Anglin and associate professor Alexandra Freidus were recognized as outstanding reviewers for two AERA-affiliated journals.

Jessica Rubin, associate dean for experiential education and J. Agnes Burns Professor of Law at UConn Law, has been named the 2026 recipient of the Association of American Law Schools Stephen Ellmann Memorial Clinical Scholarship Award. This honor recognizes a mid-career scholar-teacher whose career trajectory is dedicated to clinical and experiential teaching, whose written body of work evinces a concern for justice and a commitment to healing the world, and whose body of work emanates from their clinical commitments.

In Memoriam

Jose Colon, 89, of Willimantic, Conn., a former maintenance worker in the Student Union for almost 30 years, on May 9.

Ellen Seader, 94, of Manchester, Conn., a 35-year employee who retired as Director of Mental Health Services, on May 19.
