An aneurysm can be a life-threatening condition but may be hard to detect. The bulge or “ballooning” in the wall of an artery, may burst and cause dangerous bleeding. Dr. Kwame Amankwah, chief of endovascular and vascular surgery at UConn Health, say that’s why it’s important to know whose most at risk since often doctors can stop aneurysms from rupturing if they find and treat them early.
