Honors

Kenneth Fuchs, professor of music composition, has earned a spot on the Editor’s Choice list in the current issue of Gramophone magazine for his latest album, “Cloud Slant.”

Laura Mauldin, associate professor in human development and family studies, has been selected as a New America National Fellow. For nearly 25 years, the Fellows Program has contributed to a deeper understanding of trends around timely topics.

Peter Allison, 78, of Northampton, Mass., a retired university library collection specialist, on Sept. 10.

Merrill Cummings, (pictured on front page), 104, of Mansfield, Conn., the first paid fire chief in university history, taking the position in 1946 and retiring in 1978 after 32 years of service, on Sept. 16.

Frances Fryer, 91, of South Bridgton, Maine, the chair of the Department of Education from 1951-53, on Aug. 14.

Moira Veiga, 79, of Coventry, Conn., a former undergraduate academic advisor in the School of Business, on April 9.

Marvern Moss, 87, of Monroe, Conn., a former writing instructor, on Aug. 22.

Maryanne Preli, 73, of Windsor Locks, Conn., a former labor and delivery nurse at UConn Health, on Sept. 2.
