Honors

Mary Beth Bruder, director of the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and professor at the School of Medicine and the Neag School of Education, was named recipient of the 2024 Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Special Education Lifetime Achievement Award.

Accounting professor Frank Murphy has won the American Taxation Association’s Outstanding Tax Manuscript Award for his significant contribution to the tax literature. His research, titled “Foreign Employment, Income Shifting, and Tax Uncertainty,’’ was published in The Accounting Review in March 2022.

Diana Sobieraj, Director of Assessment and associate professor in the School of Pharmacy, was given the Rufus A. Lyman Award by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy for co-authoring a paper examining North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination first-time exam pass rates.

At the recent Scientific Session of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Dr. Thomas Taylor, professor and chair, and Dr. Foteini Toulomi, associate professor, of the School of Dental Medicine, won prestigious awards. Taylor was the recipient of the 2024 George H. Moulton Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Art and Science in Fixed Prosthodontics for his significant contributions to the art and science of fixed prosthodontics and his demonstrated lifetime service to the field. Toulomi received the 2024 Claude R. Baker Faculty Award, which recognizes exceptional dental school junior faculty members and acknowledges excellence in teaching demonstrated by innovative teaching methods, student awards, and exceptional course materials.

Dr. Stuart Lieblich, 68, of New York, N.Y., a former clinical professor at the School of Dental Medicine, on Feb. 28.

Helen Walsh, 97, of Canton, Conn., a retired secretary, on Feb. 14.
