Dear Colleagues,

I write to share with you that I have appointed Haleh Ghaemolsabahi interim Chief Information Officer.

Haleh has more than three decades of experience in Information Technology Services at UConn. She began her career here in 1994, first as a technician and later as IT team lead, IT relationship manager, Director of Campus Technology Services, Deputy Chief Information Officer, and has previously served as interim and acting CIO.

Underscoring the length of her tenure and the contributions she has made to our university over many years in an ever-evolving field is the fact that Haleh created and implemented UConn’s first institutional website. Many members of our community cannot remember a time before UConn had a website.

In addition, she led the strategy, implementation, integration, and evolution of the University’s enterprise Learning Management System; developed and institutionalized the Classroom Technology Lifecycle Program, creating a sustainable framework for technology refresh and modernization across instructional spaces; led the development of a globally accessible scientific research database, Global Cestode Database, for a fully funded National Science Foundation project; and led the implementation of the University’s emergency communications platform and innovative integration with university web services.

She is well-known for building strong partnerships across academic and administrative units to advance technology-enabled outcomes and in identifying opportunities for collaboration, efficiency, and risk reduction through centralization of IT services for distributed units and regional campuses.

She received her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, France, and her master’s in applied mathematics from UConn.

Please join me in thanking Haleh for her willingness to take on this interim role.

Sincerely,

Radenka Maric
President
