The 2011 Jazz Showcase held at von der Mehden Recital Hall on Sept. 26 featured UConn’s six jazz ensembles performing everything from well-known classics to the avant garde. Included in the performances were new works by UConn professor and director of jazz studies Earl MacDonald, and the big band sound of Jimmy Heath.
