About the artists:
Ellen Carey photographic works, created with a large Polaroid camera, have been exhibited in 48 one-person shows in museums, galleries and alternative spaces and also in hundreds of group exhibits. Her work is in the permanent collections of more than 20 major photography and art museums such as the George Eastman House, Museum at the Chicago Art Institute, the Fogg Museum at Harvard University, the Smithsonian, and the Whitney Museum of Art to name a few. She has received critical acclaim and is the recipient of many awards and honors.
Carey earned her MFA degree in photography from SUNY Buffalo and is currently an associate professor of photography at the University of Hartford’s art school. She lives and works in Hartford and New York.
Plein air painter John Dziadikis bringing to this exhibit his personal, never before exhibited artworks that he considers his favorites. He says he rotates his artwork throughout his home in Southbury and often pieces are stored along the walls, on bookcases and “under his bed.”
The self-taught artist’s experience in drafting, one art class, and a helpful mentor, led to his work as a serious artist. He works to create a convincing depiction of reality through illusion and abstraction and to change one’s perception of color. He is represented by on-line galleries that feature his various colorist-style artworks.
The University of Connecticut Health Center’s collection of fine arts serves to enhance the environment and promote the sense of a caring community for patients, visitors, staff and students.
