Lung cancer is the deadliest cancer and more than half die within a year of being diagnosed. Robotic bronchoscopy allows physicians to quickly diagnose lesions detected through low-dose CT scans, including those that are small or in hard-to-reach parts of the lung. Dr. Omar Ibrahim, director of Thoracic Oncology and Interventional Pulmonology at UConn Health, says diagnosing the cancers earlier allows for improved surgical management of the disease and increases the chance for survival.
