About the artists:
Gene Gort is a visual artist, video producer, media programmer and educator. His artwork and videotapes have been shown at the De Cordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, Mass.; Pacific Film Archive/Berkeley Art Museum, Berkeley, Calif.; the Video Art Foundation, Barcelona; Cyberarts Festival, Boston; and at art venues in Toronto, Ohio, New York, New Hampshire, among others.

He has been recognized by the Rockefeller Foundation with nominations, and received grants from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, Pollack-Krasner and LEF foundations; New England Foundation for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Artist Projects; and residencies at the MacDowell Artist Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire and at iPark East, Haddam. Gort, a resident of Avon, is a professor of media arts, a program he designed and directs, at the Hartford Art School/University of Hartford, West Hartford.

Jim Lee is a printmaker/book artist with a Masters in Fine Art in printmaking. Jim Lee’s work has been exhibited in many national and international exhibitions, including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Center for Book Arts, N.Y.; Galerie Im Hollental, Buchenbach, Germany; the Boston Printmakers International Biennial; the Taipei Museum of Fine Arts and the 2nd Qijang International Print Festival, Chongqing, Peoples’ Republic of China.

His work can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan, the National Portrait Gallery, Getty Art Center, Wadsworth and Boston athenaeums, Art Institute of Chicago, Guangdong Museum of Fine Arts, libraries, universities, and corporate and private collections.

In 1978 he began making limited edition letterpress books and established “Blue Moon Press.” He lives in Glastonbury and teaches relief and intaglio printmaking, drawing and book arts at the Hartford Art School/University of Hartford, West Hartford.

The University of Connecticut Health Center’s collection of fine arts serves to enhance the environment and promote the sense of a caring community for patients, visitors, staff and students.
