Today the Funky Dawgz opened Storrs Center. Tonight they “Shut It Down” at The Spot in Providence.

A New Orleans-style second line jazz band, the Funky Dawgz Brass Band comprises members of the UConn Marching Band and Pep Band, and these musicians share a passion to perform. You have to experience the Funky Dawgz in the fur, as these 12 guys release their energy and excitement in one giant foot-stomping, hand-clapping great time.

And it’s not just Husky fans getting up. Last month, the Dawgz won the SoNo “Breaking the Band Battle” – where first prize consisted of opening for The Village People at the 2013 Norwalk Oyster Festival plus eight hours of studio time.

This story is only just beginning. Look and listen for more in the weeks and months ahead.
