All members of the UConn community currently in Paris for the Education Abroad program have reported they are safe following the terrorist attacks there on the evening of Nov. 13.

The University has been in touch with all 17 students and a faculty member. Administrators are also reaching out to students from France and surrounding nations who are currently on campus to offer any assistance they might need.

“UConn’s campuses, like the entire world, are shocked and horrified by the terrorist attacks,” said President Susan Herbst in a communication to the University community Nov. 14. “Our hearts ache for the victims, for the people of France, and for all those who lost someone they love to this unspeakable and senseless brutality.”

UConn is an international institution, Herbst added, and is home to students, faculty, and staff from across the world. In addition, members of the University community and alumni are spread throughout the globe. “Wherever we are, and wherever we are from, we all share the same sense of profound loss,” she said. “Because as a community, we abhor violence in any form, against anyone, whether here at home or anywhere in the world.”
