Neag School of Education Takes Positive Steps

<p>George Sugai, Professor of Special Education and Director of the Center for Behavioral Education & Research, spoke at the Connecticut Summit on Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). Sponsored in part by the Neag School of Education’s Center for Educational Behavior and Research, the event, which was held on campus on May 19, provided Connecticut school leaders, policy makers, and educators with an overview of national PBIS efforts as well as ideas for implementing PBIS in Connecticut schools. The overall effort is aimed at preventing bullying in schools through positive intervention strategies. The program emphasizes the establishment of organizational supports or systems that give school personnel capacity to use effective interventions accurately and successfully at school, district, and state levels.
