Following a report on NBC Connecticut yesterday that Hall of Fame men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun will announce his retirement today, the University announced last night that a news conference “to address the future of the men’s basketball program” will take place at 2 p.m. today at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. The news conference will be streamed live on UConnHuskies.com.

Calhoun has returned to campus recently while recovering from hip surgery, following a bicycling accident last month. He was injured on Aug. 4, the afternoon of the annual Mohegan Sun/Jim Calhoun Charity All-Star Basketball Game, which benefits the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center at the UConn Health Center.
