UConn Magazine Launches Free App

The app launches its Fall 2013 edition this week, offering all the content in the print edition, and additional multimedia features.

Watch Sandy Hook survivor and UConn alum Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis ’05 (ED), ’06 MA share her powerful message on teaching compassion to children across the country. Listen to Kevin Ollie ’95 (CLAS) give insight into his coaching philosophy as he heads into his second season leading the UConn men’s basketball team. Or pay a visit to the new downtown Storrs Center’s shops, eateries, and high-end apartments through the eyes of a student.

From 360-degree panoramic views and interactive photo galleries to videos and bonus stories, UConn Magazine – the University’s twice-yearly alumni publication – is now delivering a new kind of experience to readers, with audiovisual storytelling made possible through the magazine’s free app for tablet devices.

mag-appAvailable for download on iPads, iPad minis, Kindles, and Android tablet devices, the UConn Magazine app launches its Fall 2013 edition this week, offering all of the content found in the print edition of UConn Magazine, along with additional features made possible via the digital realm. With the free UConn Magazine app, readers can now:

  • Interact with magazine content, including accessing exclusive videos, as well as interactive Q&A’s, photo slideshows, infographics, maps, and more;
  • Listen to stories and interview clips via audio;
  • Submit Class Notes directly from a tablet device;
  • Read supplementary articles and profile pieces beyond what is available in print;
  • Link directly to related online content;
  • Choose to go paperless with a free digital subscription;
  • Stay informed about the University, whether or not they are UConn alumni.

The new digital edition also allows UConn Magazine to share its content to a potentially greater number of readers, including international alumni who previously did not receive the printed publication, as well as other members of the UConn community, such as faculty, students, or parents, who may not be UConn alums. The development of the app follows a full redesign of the magazine, which launched earlier this year. Magazine content will continue to be made available on the UConn Today website, and archived issues can also be found at magazine.uconn.edu.

Visit magazine.uconn.edu/app/ from your tablet device to subscribe to the app for free from the iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon marketplaces.
