Men’s and Women’s Games to be Broadcast Live on Campus

Gampel Pavilion will host students for a live showing of Saturday’s nationally televised UConn men’s basketball game against top-seeded Florida in the 2014 NCAA national semi-final.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. for the 6 p.m. game, which will be projected onto three jumbo screens in the center of the arena. The event is free and the Student Alumni Association will give away 2,000 T-shirts.

Sunday’s women’s game on April 6 will also be shown live on campus in the Student Union Theater. Doors will open at 8 p.m. and the game begins at 8:30 p.m.

In New York City, the Empire State Building’s world-famous tower lights will shine in support of the NCAA Final Four teams Saturday, beginning at sunset. The east side of the building will be lit in blue and white for The University of Connecticut.

The winning teams of Saturday’s game will split the lights on Monday, April 7, with a celebratory sparkle lighting for the Champion after the game.

All Husky fans are urged to wear blue and white this weekend to show support for UConn and the teams.

“The sense of pride that our campuses, our fans and the State of Connecticut feel for both teams is incredible,” President Herbst noted in a message to the community.

Watch some young Husky fans express their pride by singing the UConn Fight Song.
